The most sustainable children's garment is the one that reaches a second child. That is the whole strategy: build it so it survives the wash, price it so a family buys what it needs rather than twice, and label it so the next person knows what they are getting.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO
Three decisions, not three claims
Channel stitching that stops padding migrating. Hoods without drawstrings to rethread. Elasticated cuffs that hold after fifty washes. These are construction decisions with a second owner in mind.
A school week needs five, not one. Multipacks mean one delivery instead of three, less packaging per garment, and no emergency trip for a polo on a Wednesday night.
One size logic from 50 to 172 in centimetres. A 122 handed to a cousin is still a 122 — no guessing what a brand's “6 years” meant three seasons ago.
Make it last: four habits
Nothing here is a marketing claim — it is what our own care labels say, in plain words.
- 01 Wash at 30 °C. Hotter water is what fades colour and shrinks cotton. Cooler washes also cut most of the energy a garment uses in its life.
- 02 Skip the tumble dryer. Heat is what kills elastane in waistbands and flattens padding in jackets. Line drying adds seasons.
- 03 Iron prints inside out, up to 110 °C. A direct hot plate on a print is the fastest way to lose it.
- 04 Pass it on, don't bin it. Outgrown but intact goes to a cousin, a neighbour or a charity collection. Torn beyond repair goes to textile recycling, not household waste.
WHAT WE DO NOT CLAIM
No percentages we cannot prove, no certification logos we do not hold, no carbon figure calculated backwards. If a page cannot show the number, the number should not be on the page. When the audited data exists — material composition by weight, factory list, transport emissions — it goes here, with the date it was measured.
