Your questions answered

Is this parka warm enough for winter?

Yes, for everyday winter wear. It is padded, has a black quilted lining, and the zip sits under a popper placket so wind can't get through. On frosty days add a jumper.

Which size should I order?

Sizes follow height: 104 fits about 3–4 years and 172 about 14–15 years. Take his usual size, as the cut leaves room for a hoodie, and go one up only if it has to last two winters. The tab cuffs can be pulled in, so sleeves that are still a bit long won't slip over his hands.

What's the pocket on the sleeve for?

It's a small zipped pocket on the upper arm, handy for a bus pass, a key or a few coins he needs to reach quickly.

Can I machine wash it?

Yes, at 30 °C on a gentle cycle, with the zip and poppers closed and the jacket inside out. Skip the fabric softener and the tumble dryer; loosen the drawcords and dry it on a hanger so it keeps its shape.

How is it different from a regular parka?

It seals off better: the hood, the cuffs and the hem can all be pulled in, on top of the covered zip. That counts on windy days at the bus stop or on the touchline.
