Girls' Sleepsuits
Girls' sleepsuits are one-piece nightwear that covers the arms, body and legs. There is no top to ride up and no trousers to slip down during the night. They work for bedtime, daytime naps and slow mornings at home. On cooler nights a sleepsuit goes on over a vest, and when the room is warm it can be worn on its own. In the menu, sleepsuits sit within Rompers & Dungarees, next to the daytime all-in-ones.
Sizes follow height in centimetres rather than age alone. A newborn usually starts in 56 cm, a 6-month-old in 74 cm and a 1-year-old in 86 cm. If your daughter is between sizes, go up one, because a sleepsuit needs room in the body and legs for kicking and nappy changes. Some shops call these all-in-ones or one-piece pyjamas. Should a newborn girl start in 56 cm or 62 cm?
Most newborns fit 56 cm, but bigger babies often go straight into 62 cm, the 0-3 month size. Babies grow quickly in the first few weeks, so it helps to have one or two sleepsuits in 62 cm ready.
Should my daughter wear a vest under her sleepsuit at night?
Add a vest when the bedroom is cool and leave it off when the room is warm. The usual guide for safe sleep is a room of 16 to 20°C. Feel the back of her neck to check she is not too hot.
