Is it warm enough for cold winter days?
Yes. It is padded with polyester from collar to hem, and the fur-trimmed hood keeps the wind off his face at the bus stop. On frosty days, layer a jumper underneath.
Which size should I order?
Sizes follow height: 104 fits about 3–4 years and 172 about 14–15 years. Take his usual size, as the cut leaves room for a hoodie, and go one up only if it has to last two winters. It ends just below the hip, so it doesn't get in the way on a bike or the climbing frame.
Why so many pockets?
The two zipped chest pockets keep a phone, key or bus pass safe, and the lower pockets close with a popper under the flap, so gloves don't fall out.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, at 30 °C on a gentle cycle, with the zip and poppers closed and the jacket inside out. Skip the fabric softener and the tumble dryer; once it's dry, fluff up the faux fur with your fingers.
Is this a parka or a puffer coat?
A bit of both. The quilting and all-over padding come from a puffer, while the fur-trimmed hood, the covered zip and four pockets are typical parka details.
