A baby grow is what some shops call a sleepsuit; it is the same all-in-one garment. Choose by your baby's length rather than age: a newborn usually takes 56 cm and a 4-month-old 68 cm. Nightwear should sit close to the body without pulling across the shoulders, so move up a size only when the current one starts to pull. For cooler rooms, add a vest underneath or a sleeping bag on top rather than loose blankets.

What size baby grow should I buy for a 6-month-old?
Most 6-month-olds take 74 cm, the 6 to 9 month size. If your baby is long for their age and 74 cm already feels snug at the feet, move up to 80 cm so the baby grow does not pull when they stretch out.
What should a baby wear to bed in a room at 18 degrees?
At 16 to 20°C, a baby grow over a vest with a 2.5 tog sleeping bag suits most babies. Above 24°C, a vest or light baby grow on its own is often enough. Feel your baby's chest or the back of the neck to check, not their hands.
